Backyard Flavors at Ohio Herb Day

Talk by Kate Hodges at Herb Day presented by Ohio Herb Education Center, 110 Mill Street, Gahanna, OH 43230

Do you dabble with food that grows beyond structured garden borders? From common landscaping trees and bushes to rogue and planted annuals, there are many ways to experience edible plants in your own yard. Join Kate Hodges, founder and co-owner of Columbus culinary herb and berry farm Foraged & Sown, to discover some of her favorite flavors common in backyard landscapes. This interactive discussion will include information about growing and identification, harvest timing and techniques, and preparation. Attendees will leave with inspiration to incorporate and enjoy something new in their own landscape.

Kate Hodges is the flavor finder of Foraged & Sown, Kate has been gardening her whole life and foraging for much of it. She finds herself enamored equally with cultivated and wild flavors. As farmer, you’ll find her building perennial systems and carefully harvesting to ensure plant vigor. As forager, you’ll find her traversing different terrains in search of greens, berries, nuts and roots.
